Rob’s mission at Originate Labs is to drive the vision, execution, and core values of the company from an out-of-the box perspective. As both a software engineer and entrepreneur, Rob stands by the principal that the most important element for success in any venture is finding smart, self-driven talent and trusting them to succeed. Rob has assembled some of the most elite talent in his previous ventures, and Originate Labs is no exception.
Prior to Originate Labs, Rob co-founded Lumitrend, Inc., a mobile software developer and publisher. Lumitrend developed a mobile content management application that wirelessly synchronizes contacts, photos, music and videos between feature phones and an online data-store. Lumitrend was acquired by Asurion Insurance Services in 2006 and has since deployed the technology on the AT&T, US Cellular, ALLTEL and Roger’s carrier networks. Rob subsequently served as Director of Products at Asurion for a period after the acquisition to ensure a smooth transition of the technology and team.
Prior to Lumitrend, Rob worked for IBM, Slam Dunk Networks, and founded the technology consulting firm Meadows Consulting. Meadows Consulting provides high powered software development services to companies such as Qualcomm, Amadeus, and Amazon and continues to operate today with a select client base and a focus on mobile technologies.
Currently, Rob serves on the board of various companies including Originate Labs, Originate Resources and Thrive Apparel.
Jeremy's mission at Originate Labs is to constantly seek out talent, projects and business opportunities that best fit the Originate culture. Jeremy has a keen eye for high caliber partners who Originate prides itself on working with. Jeremy also plays a key role in the recruiting, partner, and incubation programs.
Before co-founding Originate Labs, Jeremy worked with the University of Hawaii Football Team spearheading corporate sponsor fulfillment and helping establish a consistent fan base throughout the state of Hawaii. Jeremy earned his M.B.A. from the University of Hawaii with a specialization in Finance and Marketing.
Ali earned his B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2001.
While an undergrad, Ali spent 3 years working in the Scientific Visualization department of UCLA where he focused heavily on computer graphics.
During graduate school Ali joined the faculty and taught Computer Architecture in the Computer Science department, in addition Ali also worked with the streaming video team at Cisco Systems in San Jose.
After completing his masters, Ali left Cisco Systems to work for Slamdunk Networks in Redwood city where he worked on an Enterprise application capable of transferring business data in many formats including, email, xml and EDI.
After Slamdunk, Ali went to work for UBMatrix, an XBRL consulting company. As a consultant, Ali was the lead contact with major clients like the FDIC, Unisys and KPMG for 3 years.
Tyler's mission at Originate Labs is to continuously enhance Originate's operational strategy by driving the full lifecycle of each product and service for which Originate Labs is vested in. Tyler's focus on operational effectiveness and project management ensures that Originate's development environment sustains its agile edge. Tyler also plays a key role in supporting the recruiting, partner, and incubation programs at Originate.
Prior to Originate Labs, Tyler held a management role at ProNet Solutions, a leading provider of technology management solutions for community banks. While at ProNet, Tyler interfaced with the banking community to implement business solutions using technologies to improve operating efficiency and effectiveness. Tyler's background also includes work for Arizona Oncology Associates/Us Oncology, and Singer, Bach and Associates, an asset recovery company.
Tyler received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Arizona and earned his Masters of Business Administration from Webster University.
Prior to founding Scheinrock Advisory Group in mid-1997, Mr. Scheinrock served as Vice Chairman, Chief Financial Officer and Director of Kistler Aerospace Corporation from 1996 through May 1997. While at Kistler, Jeff formulated the capital raising plan and all documents for a successful raise of $350 million in equity. Jeff also negotiated strategic contracts with suppliers such as Northrup Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Aerojet, Allied Signal and Raytheon. From 1989 to 1996, Mr. Scheinrock served as Vice Chairman of Finance and Strategic Planning for Packard Bell NEC Electronics, Inc. While at Packard Bell, Jeff negotiated equity investments from Groupe Bull and NEC. Jeff also set up operations throughout Europe and Asia and negotiated tax incentives from the different countries. Jeff negotiated in excess of $1 billion in bank debt and $3 billion in trade credit from companies such as Intel, Microsoft, Panasonic, Tatung, Lite-On, Seagate etc. Jeff was responsible for all administrative functions including but not limited to personnel, real estate, accounting and finance, management information systems, planning and budgeting. Jeff also handled the negotiation and structuring of all acquisition including Zenith Data Systems and Ark Interface Software among others. Prior to joining Packard Bell NEC, Mr. Scheinrock was Senior Partner in charge of the Entrepreneurial Services Group of Arthur Young and Company’s Los Angeles office. He has extensive experience in international financial markets, corporate finance and capital structure, acquisitions and strategic investment, and is a CPA.
In addition, Mr. Scheinrock served as the Chief Executive Officer of Tornado Development Corporation from July 1997 through August 9, 2002. Under Mr. Scheinrock Tornado Development raised $52 million in equity (from Questmark Partners, GE Equity, Intel Communications Fund, Aries Partners, KIPCO etc.) and $3 million in bank debt and became the leader in enhanced messaging for telecommunication carriers. He also negotiated strategic agreements with Siemens, Hewlett Packard, Sun Microsystems, Invisix (a Motorola owned Company) among others. He departed the company and rejoined Scheinrock Advisory Group after Tornado reached the milestone of entering into a contract to be the next generation messaging provider to Verizon Wireless.
Doug Mandell is the founder and managing partner of the Mandell Law Group, PC, a boutique law firm specializing in employment law, technology transactions and providing general counsel services to technology companies. Last year, Doug served as the General Counsel of LinkedIn Corporation, a company he has represented since its inception. Doug is a recognized expert in the consumer internet space and has also served as the general counsel of ememories, one of the first online photo-sharing websites and the general counsel of Tornado Development, a venture backed unified-messaging software company. Doug was also an attorney with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP in the Intellectual Property and Employment Law Groups and Littler Mendelson, P.C.
Doug has been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer for the past three years, an honor reserved for the top 5% of attorneys in the Bay Area. Doug is on the Board of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) for San Francisco and serves as the chair of the Governance Committee for EO Global.
Brendon Grunewald is founder and CEO of IceVista, a company that provides operational improvement strategy development and implementation, financial restructuring and merger and acquisition services toward investors, shareholders, their portfolio companies and organizations of all sizes. He has served as CEO and board member of Sinfilo, where he took the company from incorporation to one of the best known WLAN operators in Europe with a successful exit in October 2003. Prior to that he held various executive positions at several companies including Siemens in Germany. Mr. Grunewald is founder of 70South, a recognize leader in Antarctic news and educational information, is active in Antarctic and polar conservation and education and continues to travel extensively. Mr Grunewald has and continues to serve on company boards or act as an executive or board advisor. Mr Grunewald speaks English, Dutch and German.
